How to bid on Georgia state contracts
Georgia’s supplier registration now runs through Team Georgia Marketplace (part of GA@WORK). Gather your tax ID, NIGP codes and business details first, then register, because your bid notices are driven by the codes you pick.
Step 1: Gather what registration asks for
The state says doing business with Georgia starts with online registration. Before you begin, have these ready: your tax ID or Social Security number, your business name, address and website, key contact information, the NIGP codes for what you sell, your gross annual receipts, and business details such as employee count and any minority or veteran-owned certifications.
NIGP codes matter more than they look. Georgia sends bid notices based on the codes on your profile, so a profile with the wrong codes quietly gets the wrong emails.
Step 2: Register as a bidder
Georgia’s guidance is that if your company has never done business with the state, you register as a bidder in Team Georgia Marketplace. The state’s pages also refer to the GA@WORK Marketplace for Suppliers, part of a system transition, so use the links on the state site rather than an old bookmark. Team Georgia Marketplace is available around the clock except Monday mornings from 5:00 to 5:30 a.m. for maintenance.
If you get stuck, the State Purchasing Help Desk is listed at 404-657-6000 during business hours.
Step 3: Find the bids
Once registered you receive email alerts about relevant bidding opportunities, and bids are also available through the Georgia Procurement Registry and the supplier marketplace. Keep your contact details and NIGP codes current; the state encourages suppliers to do that and to complete its training.
What the state system does not cover
This is the state’s process. Local governments may post bids outside the state system, and federal work is on SAM.gov. GovBidWire lists federal opportunities plus direct state and local feeds in 30+ states, including Georgia, so you can search them together.
