Comparing Federal Compass and GovBidWire?
Federal Compass is a federal capture-intelligence suite built by people from the GovWin world. GovBidWire is a bid-discovery tool that covers federal, state and local work at a published price. They solve different problems, and this page says which is which.
- Federal Compass: federal-only capture suite, sold through sales (third-party reports)
- GovBidWire: federal SAM plus direct state and local feeds in 30+ states
- GovBidWire is $39/mo, published, cancel in-app · 14-day trial, no credit card
- Different jobs: capture planning versus finding and winning open bids
What Federal Compass is
Federal Compass describes itself as an end-to-end capture suite for federal business-development teams: market analysis plus workflow for shaping a pursuit before it is posted. It was founded by people with backgrounds at INPUT and GovWin, and it is aimed at the same buyer as GovWin, a capture team working federal opportunities months ahead.
If that is your job, it is a legitimate tool built for it. The question for most small and mid-size contractors is whether they need capture planning, or mainly need to find open bids that fit and not miss deadlines.
Pricing and coverage
Federal Compass does not publish prices. One third-party comparison reports that it is sold through a sales process with per-seat pricing and a one-year commitment as standard. We cannot give you a figure, and you should ask the vendor directly.
It is also federal only. A third-party review site positions it for federal-only teams, and we have found no state or local coverage listed. If any of your revenue comes from a state agency, county, city or school district, that work will not appear there.
Where GovBidWire fits
GovBidWire is $39 a month for Premium and $149 a month for Team, with the prices on our pricing page, and you can cancel from your account. It combines federal SAM coverage in all fifty states with direct state and local feeds in 30+ states, deepest in Texas, New York, Illinois, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and California.
For each market you see the open bids, the agencies that have awarded that kind of work, incumbents and comparable awards, and set-aside eligibility checked against your company profile.
What you give up
We are not a capture-planning platform. If your team lives on long-range federal pipeline analysis, program tracking through budget cycles and shaping opportunities before the RFP, a tool built for that will serve you better. Our rebid and pre-RFP forecasts are built from public notices and award dates, not analyst research.
The practical test is to write down where your last ten wins came from. If most were posted publicly and you found them in time, discovery is your bottleneck. If most were shaped months earlier, capture intelligence is.

Proof, not a pitch: we ran it on a live county RFP. It pulled 16 mandatory requirements and every insurance figure, and flagged what disqualifies a bid — automatically. Export as PDF, Word, or Text.
